Measured data are used to evaluate system performance. Measured data are then analyzed and used to derive empirical models or validate and improve existing models. Analysis of measured data leads to improvement in instrument design.
Models and simulations are directly used to predict system performance and to provide design specifications for instrument systems. Model outputs are used to drive measurement planning requirements.
